Workshop Overview
As organizations are becoming less hierarchical and more participative, it is more important than ever to optimize the contributions of every employee. The full-day How to Be an Empowering Leader training workshop will help participants create a work environment that encourages employees to utilize their full potential. Participants will learn how leaders foster or inhibit empowerment by their actions and practices.
Participants will learn how to identify and correct organizational systems and personal behaviors that get in the way of empowerment. They will also explore the level of empowerment that is appropriate given organizational and customer requirements.
Workshop Objectives
By attending this workshop, participants will:
- Understand what empowerment is
- Understand the leader’s role in creating an empowering environment
- Understand the ways organizations encourage and discourage empowerment
- Assess the appropriateness of empowerment strategies in their organization
- Assess their own attitudes and behavior relative to encouraging empowerment
- Learn how to make their employees’ jobs more challenging and more productive
- Learn how to eliminate organizational barriers to empowerment
- Learn how to improve their own empowerment skills
Workshop Activities & Materials
Each workshop participant will be asked to assess their own skills, behaviors, and practices relative to empowerment. By completing and debriefing these assessments, a level of self-awareness is achieved that can lead to the identification of areas for development.
